Linkedin Groups Get Sexy Again

Are you a Linkedin Group owner or manager for years?

If Yes, you still remember Announcement, and it is almost back.

Some years ago Linkedin forgot about Linkedin Groups. And forgot that Linkedin was built by the groups.

People were very active on Groups.

They were allowed to join 50 and all the groups could have 20 subgroups.

Then Linkedin changed some things.
• Now you could join only 100 groups, and there were no more subgroups
• Analytics were taken away
• Hero images were gone too

Few years later as an answer to the increasing number of spams all around the groups ecosystem made Linkedin to move some more admin tools, like
• Announcement > a Weekly group mail sent to all group members email inbox (eg. Gmail, Outlook)
• Group logo

Recommended Group Posts

Group owners and managers can share valuable content with group members using recommended group posts. This is an opportunity to keep members informed about the latest conversations and important news in the community.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

• Create a weekly roundup of interesting posts.
• Share announcements of important information or events.
• Highlight interesting or trending conversations.

Recommending a group post
(Group Owners and Managers)
To recommend a group post:

1. Navigate to the Groups homepage.
2. Click the
   More icon at the top of the post you want to recommend.
3. Click Recommend this post.
4. Click Recommend to confirm your selection.
5. You’ll receive an error message if you:
• Recommend a post that has already been recommended.
• Recommend a post too early (only one post can be recommended per group every seven days).
6. Group members will be notified about the recommended post.

Important:

• To prevent spam and unwanted notifications, the number of members receiving notifications will vary. Member’s will receive notifications dependent on proprietary algorithems that are specific to each member’s notification frequency and whether they have chosen to opt out of these types of notifications.
• Only one post can be recommended per group every seven days.
• We encourage all group engagement to be professional and polite. As a result, all posts are subject to the terms of the LinkedIn User Agreement and Professional Community Policies.

Group members can turn off recommended post notifications at any time.

(Group Members)


To turn off notifications for recommended group posts:

1. Navigate to the notification.
2. Click the
   More icon on the top right of a recommended post.
3. Click Turn off to disable notifications for recommended group posts.
• If you feel the group is no longer relevant for you, you also have the option to Leave group.

To turn notifications for recommended group posts back on:

1. Click the
   Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
2. Select Settings & Privacy from the dropdown.
3. Click the Communications tab at the top of the page.
4. Under the Channels section, click Change next to Notifications on LinkedIn.
5. In the Notifications settingspage, under On LinkedIn, click Updates from your groups.
6. Switch the toggle to the right next to Posts recommended by group admins to turn notifications for recommend group posts back on
