![]() I was shocked. And I have realised that there might be still millions of people thinking that the Linkedin Profile is an online CV/Resume we use for one single position. But I have to tell you, that she was absolutely WRONG! You might have heard of SEO. SEO is Search Engine Optimization. This is what makes the internet searchable. And the search engines are searching the great volume of content created every minute of the day. If your Linkedin profile is long, it can be searched more for more different keywords (don't forget, recruiters are searching for keywords). More details, stories can be told of you. Your CV should really be concentrating on the position you are applying for, but your Linkedin Profile should contain all your background, all your experiences, your interests, the organisations you are supporting, your volunteer experiences. Remember to have interests, as they might sell you better than your skills.
So I recommend you to fill your interest on your Linkedin Profile. Interests are keywords, terms, not sentences!
See how this Mashable infographic showed it back in 2012. Now, 2.5 years later the amount of data we share is even larger.
